If you want MBBS in China 2027 intake, the real work starts now, in late October 2026. Most English-taught programmes begin once a year in September, and the steps before that (CSCA, document attestation, university applications and visa) take close to a year. This guide gives a month-by-month plan for Pakistani students, and says clearly where dates are not announced yet.

One thing first. Deadlines are set by each university, not by one national body. Where we give dates below, they come from the 2026 cycle and are a guide only.

What is the timeline for MBBS in China 2027 intake?

Think of the cycle in five blocks. Each one has a clear job.

For a wider view of every stage of an MBBS abroad application, see our month-by-month application calendar. This post narrows it to the 2027 cycle.

Is it too early to apply?

For most universities, you cannot submit a full application yet because the 2027 portals have not opened. It is not too early to prepare. Applications that are complete and early are easier to process, and some universities have limited MBBS seats. On our university pages, a few China programmes list only 20 international MBBS seats a year, which fills quickly.

So the answer is: prepare now, apply as soon as each university opens, and do not wait for the deadline.

What should you do in November and December 2026?

This is your preparation window. Four tasks matter.

  1. Decide your budget and a shortlist of three to five MOE-listed universities. Our MOE-listed China universities page and the complete MOE list are a starting point.
  2. Pick your CSCA subjects and register for a sitting.
  3. Collect original documents: matric certificate, FSc Part 1 result, CNIC or B-Form, passport.
  4. Apply for a passport now if you or your parents do not have one.

Book your CSCA sitting

CSCA is the China Scholastic Competency Assessment, run under the China Scholarship Council. It is required for Chinese Government Scholarship undergraduate applicants and for many self-funded applicants. Fees are 450 yuan for one subject and 700 yuan for two or more, according to the Shanghai government FAQ.

Our CSCA guide lists the next announced sittings as 14 to 15 November and 19 to 20 December 2026, and 23 to 24 January 2027. Registration windows are short, about a week each, so check csca.cn for the current dates. If you cannot find 2027 CSCA registration dates yet, they are not published, so keep checking the official site.

Which papers? English-taught MBBS usually needs Mathematics and Chemistry, and some universities add Physics. For example, Nanjing Medical University lists Mathematics and Chemistry as compulsory for its 2026 MBBS intake. The Chinese paper is waived for fully English-taught programmes. Ask each university what it wants before you pay.

If your target university has not yet started requiring CSCA, read which Chinese universities do not require CSCA yet. Treat that as a short-term gap. Scores stay valid for two years according to our guide, so taking CSCA early rarely wastes effort.

Check the PMDC rules before you pay anything

The rules for Pakistani students going abroad changed in 2026. A PMDC public notice dated 14 May 2026 said students needed at least 50 percent in MDCAT and at least 60 percent in FSc (Pre-Medical), plus online registration at srf.pmdc.pk. Then PM&DC Public Notice No. Exam-59/2026/350, dated 5 October 2026, said the Council decided on 14 September 2026 to exempt the mandatory MDCAT requirement for Pakistani students seeking admission into foreign medical and dental institutions, as our report on the notice explains and ProPakistani reported. The MDCAT condition no longer applies, so you do not need an MDCAT score to apply to China.

Graduates must still pass the registration exam for foreign medical graduates to practise in Pakistan, and a student who wants to transfer into a Pakistani institution needs the National Examination Board assessment. The October notice does not say whether the FSc 60 percent, srf.pmdc.pk registration and training conditions of the May notice still apply, so we cannot say. Check the PMDC website before you submit a file. Our guide on whether MDCAT is required for MBBS abroad tracks this, and PMDC licensing after a foreign MBBS explains what happens at the end.

What should you do from January to March 2027?

This is when many things happen at once.

  • Take your CSCA sitting (January is announced; later sittings follow the pattern of March, April and June).
  • Take IELTS, TOEFL or the university's own test if your shortlist asks for it. Jilin University, Harbin Medical University and Chongqing Medical University, for example, list an English test on our pages. Plan three to six months of preparation.
  • Start HSK only if it helps your plan. English programmes often need HSK 4 or 5 before graduation, not before admission. See our HSK guide.
  • Watch for application portals. Many universities open in the new year.

Scholarship timing falls here too, and the next section covers it.

When do CSC scholarship applications open for 2027?

Not announced yet. For the 2026-27 cycle, HEC's Chinese Government Scholarship page listed 75 seats (35 Bachelors, 25 Masters and 15 PhD) and a portal deadline of 5 January 2026. HEC also says that applicants applying directly under other routes, such as university-run Type B applications, handle their own paperwork.

Elsewhere, embassy deadlines for the same cycle fell in February and university deadlines ran from February to March or later. That points to a CSC 2027 deadline early in 2027, but wait for the official notice from HEC and campuschina.org. If you are thinking about a scholarship, you need CSCA scores and an academic record ready before the window.

Be realistic. Our CSCA guide notes that for CSC-funded medicine, teaching is in Chinese and Medicine is among the most competitive fields. Plan a self-funded application next to any scholarship attempt. Our China scholarships guide covers each route, and the USAT guide explains the test behind HEC nomination.

How early should you attest documents?

Start in December or January, not June. Attestation is slow, and mistakes cost weeks.

The usual order for Pakistani students is board and IBCC steps first, then Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our IBCC attestation and equivalence guide and the MOFA guide cover the steps. IBCC publishes its own fee tables and forms at ibcc.edu.pk, and fees have changed over time, so use the current official figure, not a blog.

A practical rule: attest Matric and FSc Part 1 now. Attest FSc Part 2 the week results come out. Also prepare:

  • A police character certificate and medical report (see our guide), which are usually needed close to the visa stage.
  • Passport scan, photos and parent documents.
  • A bank statement if the university asks for proof of funds (what families actually need).

What if you are still giving FSc exams?

You can still prepare and in some cases apply, but each university decides. Nanjing Medical University says predicted scores are not accepted for its 2026 MBBS programme, so a final result is expected there. Other universities may give a conditional offer.

Do this: write to the admissions office, ask what they accept from a student with Part 2 results pending, and get the answer in writing. If your result comes in summer, you need a plan for same-week attestation, because a late certificate can delay the visa file.

What should you do from April to June 2027?

This is the main application season for the September intake. Based on the 2026 cycle, application windows can close as early as May at some universities. Xiamen University's fall 2026 MBBS deadline was 10 May 2026. On our university pages, Chongqing Medical University lists a deadline of about 30 July and Harbin Medical University about 31 August. These are 2026 patterns, not 2027 dates.

Our step-by-step how to apply for MBBS in China guide walks through the portal, documents and payments.

What does applying early actually give you?

It gives you time and choice. You have time to fix document errors, time to compare offers, and a chance at limited seats before they fill. It does not guarantee admission, and it does not mean you should pay early. Pay only through the university's official account and only after you have a written offer.

Note that application fees and deposits are real costs. On our data, an application fee of about RMB 1,500 appears at some universities, and admission deposits run from about RMB 7,000 to 16,500, counted toward Year 1 tuition. The refund terms vary, so read them first.

What does it cost, and what should you budget now?

Across the China universities on our pages, annual tuition ranges from about RMB 12,000 to 75,000, and hostel fees from a few thousand to around RMB 12,000, depending on the programme and city. Year 1 is higher because it includes one-time charges. At Jilin University our data shows a Year 1 total of RMB 56,000 and RMB 40,600 a year after that. See the MBBS in China country page and university directory for each fee table.

Budget three amounts before July: exam fees (CSCA, English test), attestation and courier, and the deposit. Then plan flights, visa costs and first-month living costs.

What should you do from July to September 2027?

After the offer, the sequence usually runs like this.

  1. Pay the deposit through the official channel.
  2. Receive the admission notice and the JW202 form (some universities also issue JW201). Both are visa documents.
  3. Apply for the X1 student visa at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate General in Karachi. Check the embassy's current list; a consultancy page says the passport should have roughly 18 months' validity, but confirm it.
  4. Complete the physical examination. Chinese local government guidance says students staying over six months need one, and you can do it before you travel, or complete it again in China if the record does not meet the rules.
  5. Book flights after the visa is stamped, and follow your university's arrival dates.

If your visa runs into trouble, read why student visas get rejected. Before you fly, use the pre-departure checklist and the China arrival card guide.

Can you start MBBS in China in March instead of September?

Possibly, but it is rare. Some universities, such as Dalian Medical University and Zhengzhou University, have listed spring and autumn intakes in the past. Older pages from Shandong University say most English programmes still start in September. Those sources are old, so treat a spring start as an exception, and ask the university for its current calendar.

If you miss the September 2027 window, a March start is not a safe backup. A better backup is a second university with a later deadline. Do not trust any agent who promises a March seat without a written offer from the university.

How Titans Abroad can help

Titans Abroad is a free MBBS-abroad counselling service for Pakistani students. It does not charge a consultation fee, and it recommends only PMDC-approved and MOE-listed universities. If you want help with shortlisting or paperwork, you can apply through our form. Compare what any agent tells you with the university's own notice.

Your 2027 checklist

  • Shortlist three to five universities by December 2026.
  • Register for CSCA and pick the right papers.
  • Read the current PMDC notice on pmdc.pk.
  • Start attestation in December or January.
  • Watch for HEC and CSC announcements early in 2027.
  • Submit applications as soon as portals open, with deadlines in a calendar.
  • Keep money for deposits, visa and flights ready by summer.

The fastest way to lose a seat is to wait until June to start. If you want MBBS in China 2027 intake to go smoothly, start the CSCA and document steps this month, then apply as portals open.

Frequently asked questions

When does MBBS in China admission open for 2027?

There is no single date. Each university sets its own window, and most publish fall 2027 details between January and spring 2027. The fall 2026 cycle is a guide: Xiamen University closed on 10 May 2026, and on our university pages some deadlines fall around 30 July or 31 August. Use the 2026 dates to plan backwards, then confirm on each university's admissions page.

Can I still apply for the March intake?

Only at a few universities. Most English-taught MBBS programmes start once a year in September. Some, such as Dalian Medical University and Zhengzhou University, have listed spring intakes in the past, but those pages are old. A March 2027 start would need an offer and visa within a few months, so ask the university directly before you count on it.

What exams should I take before applying?

Start with CSCA, because most universities now ask for it. For English-taught MBBS, Mathematics and Chemistry are common choices, and some add Physics. Some universities also want IELTS, TOEFL or their own English test. HSK is useful but usually not required for English programmes. MDCAT is no longer required for admission abroad, as the PMDC section above explains.

When do CSC applications open?

The 2027 dates are not announced yet. For the 2026-27 cycle, HEC's Pakistan portal closed on 5 January 2026, and embassy and university deadlines in other countries fell between February and April. Expect a similar pattern for 2027, but wait for HEC and campuschina.org. Do not pay any agent for a scholarship application.

How early should I attest documents?

Start as soon as you hold the documents. Matric and FSc Part 1 results can be prepared now, and FSc Part 2 can follow after results. IBCC equivalence, HEC or board steps and MOFA each take time, and the order matters. Aim to finish well before your earliest university deadline, ideally by March or April 2027.

What if I am still giving FSc exams?

Many universities want your final result, not a prediction. Nanjing Medical University, for example, says predicted scores are not accepted for its 2026 MBBS intake. Some will give a conditional offer on your Part 1 marks and ask for the final certificate later. Ask each university in writing what it accepts and by when.

Should I apply to several universities?

Yes, two to four is sensible. Seats at some universities are limited, and a single rejection or a late deadline can cost you the year. Apply only to MOE-listed universities that PMDC recognises, and keep the fee, city and entry rules side by side so the comparison stays honest.

How soon will I get an offer letter?

It varies. Some universities reply within a few weeks, others take longer, especially close to deadlines. After a conditional offer many ask for a deposit before issuing the admission notice and the JW202 form needed for the visa. Our fee data shows deposits from about RMB 7,000 to 16,500, usually counted toward Year 1 tuition.
