About MBBS in China
China is the most popular MBBS destination for Pakistani students, with over 30,000 currently enrolled. Programs run for 6 years, are fully English-medium, and lead to PMDC/PMC-recognized degrees. Both MOE and non-MOE universities can hold PMDC/PMC recognition - MOE-listed institutions are the preferred choice for top government scholarships like CSC and offer broader international standing.
Beyond MBBS, China has strong programs in BDS, Pharmacy, Nursing, AI, and Computer Science. The CSC Government Scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend - Pakistan holds a dedicated annual quota. Self-funded costs range from $5,000 to $17,000 per year depending on university tier and city.
New requirement from 2026: All undergraduate applicants (including MBBS) must now pass the CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment) before applying to any Chinese university. Register at www.csca.cn. Mathematics is compulsory for all applicants; because MBBS programs in China are fully English-taught, you are automatically exempt from the Chinese language component. The exam is held 5 times per year - January, March, April, June, and December. Scores are valid for 2 years.
