Thailand has three scholarships in our database, and they could hardly be more different from each other. One is a small, fully funded science Master's at a royal-affiliated institute. One is a government-to-government Master's scheme focused on sustainability, climate and public health. The third is a partial, merit-based award for Buddhist Studies. If you want a Master's in a science or policy-related field with no tuition bill, two of the three are relevant. If your interest is religious studies at any degree level, only one fits.

The list is short, so you can read every guide. Below is a table of all three, then a closer look at each, then some advice on choosing and preparing.

The two fully funded Thai Master's options

Both fully funded awards are at Master's level, but they reach you by different routes, and that changes how you plan.

Chulabhorn Graduate Scholarship, for science students

The Chulabhorn Graduate Scholarship is a fully funded science Master's at a respected royal-affiliated Thai institute. It is small: the institute admits around 15 international students a year. There is no application fee, and it is open to all nationalities except Thai citizens, so Pakistani applicants are eligible. The status is currently Applications Open. The deadline varies by intake, so the only safe approach is to check admission.cgi.ac.th for the intake you want rather than trusting a date from a blog post. Read the full details page as well as the guide.

With so few places, the competition is for a handful of seats. A focused science background and a clear research reason for choosing this institute will matter more than a long list of unrelated activities.

TIPP, for sustainability, climate and public health

The Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP) is a Thai government-to-government Master's scholarship, fully funded. Its themes are sustainability, climate and public health. The detail that catches people out is the route: it goes through your home country's designated nomination channel. You do not simply apply from your laptop. You need to find out how nominations work for Pakistan and who runs that channel, and you need to do it early.

The deadline is around February 23, and the guide tells you to confirm the date for the current cycle. The status is Opening Soon, so there is time to prepare. See the full details page for the rest.

A partial award for Buddhist Studies

The International Buddhist College Academic Scholarship is the only partial option here, and the only one that is not limited to a Master's. It is a merit-based scholarship at the International Buddhist College in Thailand. It covers the majority of tuition and hostel costs, and it is open to students of any faith background studying for a BA, MA or PhD in Buddhist Studies. You do not have to be Buddhist to apply.

The deadline is April, but it varies by intake year, so confirm the current academic year's admissions notice. Applications are currently open. Because the funding is partial, work out the remaining costs before you commit. Details are on the full details page.

Which Thai scholarship suits a Pakistani applicant

Start with your subject, because it decides almost everything. Science graduates should look at Chulabhorn first. Applicants in climate, sustainability or public health should look at TIPP. Anyone set on Buddhist Studies, at any degree level, has one option and it is the college award.

On funding alone, the two fully funded awards are the strongest. Chulabhorn gives you direct control: you apply to the institute yourself, there is no fee, and nationality is not a barrier unless you are Thai. TIPP is government-backed, but the nomination step puts part of the process outside your hands, which is a reason to start sooner. The college award asks for the most from your own pocket, though it is the only route for undergraduate or doctoral study in its field.

Timing is also useful. TIPP is around late February, the college award is in April, and Chulabhorn depends on the intake. A student with a science background and a policy interest could reasonably prepare for both Master's options in one document cycle.

Preparing your documents for Thailand

The three schemes ask for different things, so read each guide for its own list. Still, some preparation helps everywhere. Get your degree certificates and transcripts attested early. Make sure your passport has plenty of validity. Draft a statement of purpose that names the specific programme and explains why Thailand makes sense for your field. Ask referees well ahead of time.

Our documents checklist for international scholarships covers the common paperwork, and the general scholarships guide for Pakistani students explains the wider process.
