MBBS in China fees by university range from about US$3,700 to US$12,200 a year across the 45 MOE-listed universities in our directory, with the middle of the list near US$6,000 (roughly 43,600 RMB). The cheapest group is Beihua University, Dali University and Nantong University. The most expensive are Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University. The full table is below, sorted from low to high.
Use it to find your university or your budget band. All figures are per our directory, so confirm the current fee with the university before you pay anything.
How to read this MBBS in China fee structure
Every dollar and yuan figure in this post comes from the fee tables on our university pages. For each university, the yearly figure is the recurring total from year 2 onward. It adds up four things: tuition, hostel, visa extension and insurance.
Year 1 costs more. Universities add one-time charges such as a medical checkup, registration and a liaison or management fee. So the table also shows the year 1 total in RMB, taken from the same fee tables. Application fees and admission deposits are separate again, and they vary by university.
Three points to keep in mind:
- The USD figure is our directory's conversion of the RMB total, so the yuan number is the one the university actually charges.
- Hostel costs are estimates for a standard shared room. Single rooms, off-campus rent in the clinical years, food and travel are extra.
- Fees change between intakes. Treat this page as a comparison tool, not a quote.

Which MOE-listed universities have the lowest MBBS fees in China?
The lowest totals in our directory are:
- Beihua University in Jilin: US$3,700 (26,600 RMB)
- Dali University in Dali: US$3,700 (26,800 RMB)
- Nantong University in Nantong: US$4,670 (33,600 RMB)
- Xinjiang Medical University in Urumqi: US$4,979 (36,100 RMB)
Only these four sit below US$5,000. The next group starts at US$5,020 with Chongqing Medical University and Ningxia Medical University. We cover this group in more depth in cheapest MOE-listed MBBS universities in China.
A low fee does not make a university the right choice. Smaller cities usually mean lower hostel and living costs, but also fewer teaching hospitals with international patient exposure, and fewer other international students. Look at the whole picture before you decide.

What do the higher fee bands pay for?
Band 4 is led by Fudan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, both in Shanghai, where tuition alone is 75,000 RMB in the year 1 fee tables on our pages. Capital Medical University in Beijing, Tianjin Medical University and Southern Medical University in Guangzhou also sit here.
These universities sit in expensive cities, carry strong names in China, and charge accordingly. Whether the extra cost is worth it depends on your family budget and goals. A higher fee does not by itself mean a better degree for practising in Pakistan, and a lower fee does not mean a weaker one.
Two universities in the table, Soochow University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, show "No" in our PMDC flag. Ask about that directly before applying. We explain how to check below.
How much is MBBS in China in Pakistani rupees?
Convert from the USD or RMB column using the rate on the day you pay. Pakistan Observer's daily currency report for 20 October 2026 listed open-market dollar rates of Rs 277.4 buying and Rs 280.3 selling. At about Rs 280, the numbers look like this:
| Yearly total (year 2 on) | Approximate PKR per year |
|---|---|
| US$3,700 | Rs 1.04 million |
| US$5,000 | Rs 1.4 million |
| US$6,000 | Rs 1.68 million |
| US$7,500 | Rs 2.1 million |
| US$12,200 | Rs 3.4 million |
These are rough figures to size a budget. Banks and exchange companies charge different rates, and transfer fees come on top. Year 1 will cost more than the table suggests because of the one-time charges.
Is the tuition the same for every international student?
Universities publish one fee for international students on a given programme, so a Pakistani applicant normally pays the same as other foreign students. What changes the amount is the programme track, the campus, the intake year and any scholarship the university offers.
A real example of how a fee page looks: Nanjing Medical University's 2026 MBBS admission notice lists tuition of 34,000 RMB a year, insurance of 600 RMB a year, accommodation of 6,000 to 8,000 RMB a year depending on campus and room type, a 500 RMB registration fee and a 13,000 RMB non-refundable deposit after the online interview. That is the kind of line-by-line detail you should expect from any university you apply to.
Not every university publishes a firm number. Fudan's own English-taught programme list says the tuition amount is for reference and will be confirmed at registration. You can see this in the Fudan International Students Office document. When a university will not give a written figure, treat that as a risk.
What about non-MOE universities?
Our directory also lists 50 non-MOE universities. Their yearly totals run from US$2,650 at Yan'an University to US$6,890 at Sun Yat-sen University, with a middle value near US$3,460. Many are far cheaper than MOE-listed ones.
The lower price comes with a different risk. The MOE list is the filter we use for English-taught MBBS, and a university outside it needs much closer checking on recognition, teaching language and the licensing route. Read are cheap non-MOE MBBS universities in China safe before you compare prices across the two groups. For the MOE list itself, see MOE listed universities in China.
Check recognition before you check price
Fee is only half the decision. Your degree has to be accepted in Pakistan, and that depends on the university being recognised by PM&DC. The PMDC flag in our table reflects our directory. Before you pay, confirm the university on pmdc.pk and on the World Directory of Medical Schools. Our guide to verifying PMDC-recognised universities in China walks through each step.
On entry tests: since PM&DC public notice No. Exam-59/2026/350 (5 October 2026), MDCAT is not required for Pakistani students seeking admission to foreign medical institutions. It is still needed for medical colleges inside Pakistan, and you must still pass the NEB assessment if you transfer into a Pakistani institution and the National Registration Exam to practise in Pakistan. Other conditions announced earlier in 2026, such as the FSc percentage and registration on srf.pmdc.pk, are unconfirmed after the notice, so check pmdc.pk for the current position. Our post on the PM&DC notice removing the MDCAT requirement has the details, and our eligibility guide covers marks and documents.
Questions to ask before you pay any fee
Use this short list with any university or representative:
- Can I have the university's own fee sheet for my programme and intake, with every charge listed?
- Which fees are one-time, and which repeat every year?
- Is tuition fixed for all six years, in writing?
- What is refundable if my visa is refused?
- Whose bank account receives the payment? It should be the university's official account.
Titans Abroad does not charge a consultation fee, and the figures here come from our own directory. You can apply through our site, but whichever route you take, compare our numbers with the university's own sheet. The wider route options and their costs are covered on our MBBS in China page and in the full university directory.
Choosing a university on fees and fit
Start from a budget band, then narrow by city, recognition status and what the university tells you in writing. Here is a simple order:
- Pick two or three universities in your band from the table above.
- Confirm each on pmdc.pk, the World Directory of Medical Schools and the MOE list.
- Ask each for its current fee sheet and compare with the figures here.
- Add flights, living costs and the licensing exam to your budget.
MBBS in China fees by university differ by more than three times from the cheapest to the dearest, so the choice of university shapes your total cost more than any other decision. A fee table is a starting point. The university's written fee sheet is the document you act on.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the MBBS fee in China per year?
Among the 45 MOE-listed universities in our directory, the yearly total from year 2 runs from US$3,700 (about 26,600 RMB) to US$12,200 (about 87,550 RMB). The middle of the list sits near US$6,000. That total covers tuition, hostel, visa extension and insurance. Year 1 is higher because of one-time charges. Confirm the current fee with the university.
What is the cheapest and most expensive MBBS fee in China?
Per our directory, the lowest MOE-listed totals are Beihua University and Dali University at US$3,700 a year. The highest are Shanghai Jiao Tong University at US$12,200 and Fudan University at US$11,750. Outside the MOE list, Yan'an University shows US$2,650. A low number is not a reason to pick a university, so check recognition first.
Is the fee the same for Pakistani and other international students?
Chinese universities set one international-student fee, so Pakistani students usually pay the same published rate as other foreign applicants. Fees can differ by programme track, campus and intake year. Scholarships or fee reductions, where offered, are decided by each university. Ask for the fee sheet for your exact programme and intake, and compare it with the figure here.
How much is MBBS in China in Pakistani rupees?
Multiply the dollar figure by the current exchange rate. Open-market rates in October 2026 were reported near Rs 277 to Rs 280 per US dollar, so US$6,000 a year is roughly Rs 1.7 million. Rates move, and the yuan also moves against the dollar. Do the sum again on the day you pay, using your bank's rate.
Are fees fixed for all six years?
Not always. The fee tables in our directory list the same tuition for each year, but universities can revise fees, and many only guarantee the figure for the current intake. Hostel rates may change when you move rooms or campus, and clinical years can bring off-campus rent. Ask the university in writing whether tuition is fixed for the full programme.
Do universities charge separate hostel and registration fees?
Yes, often. Our directory totals include hostel, visa extension and insurance, but application fees, deposits, registration fees, medical checkups and one-time service charges are separate and usually fall in year 1. Some universities also list textbooks and clinical-year costs on their own. Ask for a line-by-line fee sheet, not a single package price.
Which Chinese university has the lowest fee among MOE-listed ones?
In our directory, Beihua University in Jilin and Dali University in Yunnan are the lowest at US$3,700 a year, followed by Nantong University at US$4,670. Fees are not the whole story, so also check city, hospitals, language support and recognition. Our post on the cheapest MOE-listed universities compares the lowest-cost group in more detail.
