Indonesia has 8 scholarships in our guides, and seven of them are open to international applicants. Six are fully funded, one (UNAND) is tiered between full and partial support, and one (LPDP) is written for Indonesian citizens only. For a Pakistani student, that means the realistic shortlist has seven names, and most of them are either run by the Indonesian government or by a single university that wants international students on campus.

The mix suits students who want a degree in Indonesia without paying tuition, and who are comfortable applying early. Several deadlines fall between January and July 2026, so check each official site before you plan your timeline.

Government-run scholarships for international students

Two options come directly from the Government of Indonesia. Both are fully funded and both cover Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral study, which makes them the broadest choices if you have not yet picked a level or a university.

Because these two go through official channels, expect more paperwork and a slower process than a single-university award. In return you get a wider choice of institutions.

Fully funded university scholarships

Four universities run their own fully funded programmes. They are the best fit if you already know which campus you want, or if you want a direct application with one institution.

BISS and SWIS look the strongest on paper for Pakistani applicants, because the data lists return flights and a living allowance on top of tuition. Those costs are where most self-funded plans fall apart. UMSU is a close third, with the dormitory benefit applying only to female students.

A tiered option based on grades and English

Universitas Andalas International Scholarship 2026 (UNAND) at Universitas Andalas in West Sumatra works differently. It offers full, partial or tuition-fee-only support for Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral students, and the level you receive depends on your GPA and English proficiency. The deadline is May 10, 2026. full details.

This is the one to treat as a strong fallback. A high GPA and a good English score could earn full support, but a weaker profile may leave you covering living costs yourself.

The LPDP programme is not for Pakistani applicants

LPDP Scholarship (Regular Program) is a fully funded programme for Indonesian citizens pursuing Master's or Doctoral degrees. It covers tuition, living expenses and research costs for students committed to contributing to Indonesia. Its deadline varies, so confirm it on the official site. We list it so the picture is complete, but a Pakistani passport holder should put time into the other seven. full details.

Choosing between the Indonesian options

Start with your level. If you want an undergraduate degree, ITB, BISS, SWIS, UMSU, KNB and TIAS all apply. For Master's or PhD, ITB drops out and the others remain.

Then look at the calendar. BISS closes first, on January 30, 2026, so it rewards early preparation. After that come KNB, TIAS, SWIS, UNAND, UMSU and ITB in that order. Applying to three or four is more sensible than betting on one, since each asks for similar documents.

Finally, compare what is covered. Return flights, dormitory and visa support appear in some summaries and not others. If an item is missing from a summary, check the guide before assuming it is included.

Preparing your documents

Begin with transcripts, degree certificates, a valid passport and proof of English ability, since UNAND ties its tiers to GPA and English. Our documents checklist lists what most international scholarships expect, and the general scholarships guide explains how to compare programmes across countries. If you apply through TIAS, plan time for the embassy step.
