Tsinghua University Tuition Scholarship

The scholarship covers full or partial tuition fees for a single academic year at a time. Because it is not a multi-year guarantee, recipients must reapply and be re-evaluated every year based on academic performance, research output, and supervisor recommendation, which keeps the award competitive throughout a student's degree rather than a one-time entry bonus.

Tsinghua also runs several fully-funded flagship programs that function as scholarships in their own right for admitted students, including the Schwarzman Scholars Program, the International Master's Program in Nuclear Engineering and Management, and multiple International Master of Public Administration tracks (including one tied to the Belt and Road Initiative). Students in these designated programs receive full tuition waivers automatically as part of admission rather than through a separate tuition-scholarship application.

Beyond tuition support, enrolled international graduate students can also compete for Teaching Assistantships, Research Assistantships, and Management Assistantships once enrolled, which provide a monthly stipend in exchange for campus work duties. These assistantships are separate from but often combined with the Tuition Scholarship to reduce a student's overall cost of study.

Because Tsinghua consistently ranks among mainland China's top two universities (alongside Peking University) and is especially strong in engineering, computer science, economics, and public policy, its own tuition scholarship is a meaningful way for internationally mobile students to access a world-class Chinese education even when they miss out on the more competitive, quota-limited CSC award.
