Royal University for Women (RUW) Merit Scholarship & International Student Discount

The core offering is a merit-based partial scholarship on tuition fees. Undergraduate applicants with a high school average of 85% or above, and postgraduate applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, are considered by RUW's scholarship committee for an award. The committee reviews every qualifying application individually and sets the approved percentage on a case-by-case basis, meaning there is no single fixed award amount published in advance; RUW is explicit that meeting the academic threshold does not automatically guarantee an award, since the committee also weighs the strength of the supporting request letter and financial-need narrative submitted with the file.

Layered on top of the merit scholarship, RUW runs a separate, standing tuition discount specifically for international students, which is the most relevant route for a Pakistani applicant since it does not require competing for a limited merit-scholarship pool. Students who are international but resident in Bahrain or another GCC country receive a 15% discount on tuition fees; students who are international and resident outside Bahrain and the GCC (which covers the large majority of Pakistani applicants applying from Pakistan) receive a 20% discount on tuition fees. Both discounts apply for the duration of the programme as long as the student remains in good academic standing.

RUW also maintains several adjacent tuition-reduction schemes that a Pakistani applicant should know about even though they are not scholarships in the traditional sense: a 50% first-semester tuition discount for students transferring in from another university (local or international), and family/sibling discounts of 10-15% for sisters enrolling together. None of these require a separate application beyond the standard admission file, and all are confirmed and processed through the Office of the Registrar rather than a separate scholarship office.

Because RUW is a private university with no government scholarship allocation tied to it, a Pakistani student applying here should treat these awards as tuition-cost reducers layered onto a self-funded or family-funded study plan, not as fully funded scholarships covering living costs, visa fees, or airfare. Admission itself requires standard secondary-school documents attested by the Bahrain Ministry of Education (or the equivalent overseas attestation chain) and proof of English-language proficiency via an internationally recognized test.
