Rhodes Scholarships (United Kingdom)

The scholarship covers all University of Oxford course fees, the university application fee, student visa fees, the International Health Surcharge, a settling-in allowance, and two economy class flights to and from the UK. It also provides an annual living stipend, set at £21,060 for the 2026-27 academic year, paid in monthly instalments of £1,755.

The standard tenure of the scholarship is two years, which supports postgraduate courses that can be completed within that timeframe. However, the trust also supports professional programmes and doctoral study under specific conditions, providing up to three years of funding for direct-entry DPhil candidates or up to four years for approved 1+3 pathways.

The rigorous selection process is guided by four core criteria established in 1902: literary and scholastic attainments, energy to use one's talents to the full through mastery in areas like sports or arts, truth, courage and devotion to duty, and moral force of character with instincts to lead.

Applicants must apply to the Rhodes Scholarship through their respective constituency before applying for admission to the University of Oxford. Successful candidates join a lifelong global community of over 4,500 living Rhodes Scholars residing in more than 100 countries.
