About the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2027
The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is a competitive initiative that brings top-ranked international undergraduate students to Canada for 12 weeks of hands-on research experience. Operating between May and October of each year, the program places interns under the supervision of Canadian academic institution faculty members across more than 70 universities.
The program is open to undergraduate students from a wide network of partner countries and regions, including Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Jordan, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Participants gain access to Canada's research ecosystem by working 40 hours per week on projects spanning science, engineering, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences. In addition to laboratory or field research, interns receive professional skills development training, participate in social activities, and connect with local student mentors.
The award package covers major logistical and living expenses, including funding for round-trip airfare, airport ground transportation, stipends for housing, food, and incidentals, student enrollment fee support, and emergency health insurance for the duration of the internship.
