About the MBZUAI Scholarship
The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), established in 2019 in Abu Dhabi's Masdar City, is the world's first university dedicated exclusively to graduate-level education and research in artificial intelligence. Its admissions model is unusually straightforward: every full-time student admitted to a funded MSc or PhD program receives a full scholarship automatically - there is no separate scholarship competition or additional application layer to navigate.
The university was built with backing from the Abu Dhabi government specifically to position the UAE as a global hub for AI research, and it has rapidly recruited faculty from top computer-science departments worldwide. Its MSc and PhD programs cover machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and related computational fields, taught entirely in English by an international faculty.
Financially, the scholarship removes essentially every cost barrier: full tuition waiver, a monthly stipend of roughly AED 15,500 for MSc students and AED 17,500 for PhD students, UAE residence visa sponsorship for non-UAE nationals, comprehensive health insurance, and access to on-campus housing (at additional cost, deducted from the stipend if used). For a Pakistani computer science or engineering graduate, this is one of the most generous fully funded AI-specific graduate programs available anywhere in the world.
Because MBZUAI is a young, well-resourced, research-first institution, class sizes are small and student-to-faculty ratios are low, giving scholars close mentorship and hands-on involvement in cutting-edge AI research from the first semester - an advantage that is harder to secure at larger, more crowded graduate programs elsewhere.
