About the Czech Government Scholarship for Developing Countries
The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Cooperation to support foreign nationals from selected developing countries. Eligible students can study at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.
Granting scholarships to citizens of developing countries for studies at Czech public higher education institutions is an important part of the foreign development cooperation of the Czech Republic. From the late 1950s to the present day, over 20,000 foreign nationals have completed their studies at Czech universities with a government scholarship.
These scholarships are governed by the Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 870 as of 27 November 2024. The program is established as part of a joint foreign development cooperation program pursued by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
Scholarships are available for two main tracks based on the language of instruction. Czech language studies include a one year preparatory course of the Czech language provided by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies, Charles University, followed by follow up Master's study programmes in selected areas for applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, and Belarus. English language studies include selected follow up Master's programmes and selected doctoral programmes for applicants from all eligible countries.
