On top of this automatic award, CIU runs an Academic Merit Scholarship track that raises the discount to anywhere between 50 percent and 100 percent of tuition, depending on the strength of the applicant's secondary school (or prior degree) academic record. CIU has a track record of offering 75 percent and even 100 percent tuition scholarships specifically to applicants from Pakistan and other South Asian countries with strong academic transcripts, reflecting the university's active recruitment in the region.

Graduate applicants are not left out: CIU offers dedicated scholarship opportunities for master's and PhD students, with PhD and research-track applicants typically expected to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher from their previous degree to be competitive for a tuition reduction. A separate Athletic Scholarship track exists for students with national-level sports achievements or who commit to representing a CIU sports team, layering an additional discount on top of academic awards in some cases.

Because CIU's scholarships are largely structured as tuition-fee reductions rather than fully funded packages with stipends, students are still responsible for accommodation, living costs, health insurance, and visa fees, though Northern Cyprus's overall cost of living remains considerably lower than in Western Europe, North America, or Australia — a major reason it continues to attract a growing number of Pakistani engineering and MBBS-adjacent (health sciences) applicants.
