About the WIPO Academy Scholarships and Training Programme
The WIPO Academy serves as the center of excellence for intellectual property education, training, and skills-building for WIPO member states, with a particular focus on developing countries, least-developed countries, and countries in transition. Established in 1998, the Academy works to build human capacity in intellectual property, which is essential to innovation and creativity globally.
The course portfolio includes general and specialized courses delivered through a combination of face-to-face, hybrid, and distance learning methodologies using the WIPO eLearning Center. Programs range from introductory online modules to executive education, joint master degrees with prestigious universities, and specialized training such as the International Patent Drafting Training Program.
Specialized initiatives under the Academy include the University Partnerships Program offering joint master degrees in intellectual property, executive training for government officials and business professionals, and summer schools organized in partnership with institutions around the world.
Capacity-building efforts also extend to specialized programs for women scientists, diplomats, trade officials, and judiciary members, supported by international funds such as the Republic of Korea Funds-in-Trust for Intellectual Property Education.
