About the Study in Canada Scholarships
The Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) program, funded by Global Affairs Canada, provides opportunities for international students from specific countries and territories to undertake short-term study or research exchanges in Canada. The program aims to strengthen international linkages and deepen bilateral and cultural ties between Canada and participating regions.
Under the current delivery model, Canadian post-secondary institutions are responsible for identifying and selecting eligible international students. Direct applications from individual students are not accepted. Institutions must submit nominations through the My EduCanada portal and provide a Management and Accountability Framework to ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
Participating Canadian institutions must be Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) and are required to waive tuition fees for all scholarship recipients. The program supports inbound mobility for students at the college, undergraduate, and graduate levels, including Master's and PhD programs.
Each scholarship project is governed by a non-negotiable contribution agreement between Global Affairs Canada and the host institution. Institutions receive funding to cover scholarship amounts for students and a $500 administrative fee per implemented scholarship, which may be used to cover costs such as employer compliance fees.
All project activities must be completed no later than September 30, 2027. The total funding provided by Global Affairs Canada will not exceed $150,000 per project. Institutions are responsible for disbursing funds to their selected students and issuing confirmation letters.
