About the Sino-Dutch Scholarship
The Sino-Dutch Scholarship is a bilateral exchange programme managed by Nuffic and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Its primary objective is the exchange of talent between the Netherlands and China under the banner of Excellence and Exchange.
The programme is specifically designed for exceptional students who intend to complete at least one full academic year of study or research in the Netherlands. Eligible study levels include Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral PhD programmes.
For the academic year 2024-2025, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science decided not to hold a new application round. The ministry is currently reviewing its policy on international student mobility and reassessing all existing bilateral scholarship programmes.
As part of this policy shift, the current Sino-Dutch Scholarship arrangement expires and will be replaced by a new comprehensive funding scheme. The ministry plans to introduce this integrated scholarship system in the future with the goal of a swift operationalisation.
Despite the suspension of this specific programme, China remains a designated priority country within the broader International Knowledge and Talent Strategy of the Netherlands.
