Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellowship

The fellowship provides up to US$50,000 per year for PhD candidates and up to US$40,000 per year for postdoctoral researchers, renewable through the completion of the program. Funding can cover tuition, living expenses, health insurance, travel to and from the host institution, and conference participation - effectively making it a fully funded package for the duration of study abroad.

Eligibility is intentionally narrow but powerful for the right candidate: applicants must be women who are citizens of a developing country or emerging economy where women remain underrepresented in STEM (Pakistan qualifies), must not hold dual citizenship with a developed country, and must already be admitted to, enrolled in, or in the process of applying to a PhD or postdoctoral research program at a recognized university or research institute abroad. Only PhD and postdoctoral applicants are eligible - master's students cannot apply.

Beyond the funding, Faculty for the Future fellows join an active global community of several hundred women scientists and engineers, with access to professional development workshops, networking events, and continued Foundation support even after fellows return home to take up faculty or research positions. For a Pakistani woman scientist or engineer aiming for a PhD abroad who intends to return and teach, this is one of the strongest funding vehicles available.
