About the NL Scholarship Programme
The NL Scholarship Programme, previously known as the Holland Scholarship until its name change in June 2023, is the national scholarship programme for international and Dutch students. It serves as a primary means of profiling Dutch higher education internationally while encouraging global mobility.
The programme is specifically aimed at stimulating talented international students from outside the European Economic Area to pursue their studies in the Netherlands. In parallel, it supports the international mobility of Dutch students by providing scholarships for them to study outside the EEA.
Nuffic plays an advisory role in the implementation of the programme, handling information provision, promotion, and event organization. The overarching vision stems from a joint initiative by the Association of Universities in the Netherlands, the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
The initiative is jointly financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science together with 47 participating Dutch higher education institutions. Together, they grant scholarships to 2,112 students per academic year.
