About the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships under Horizon Europe
The Marie Skลodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships under Horizon Europe support researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills, and develop their careers. The action targets experienced researchers to gain experience in other countries, disciplines, and non-academic sectors.
There are two main types of fellowships available. European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research career, taking place in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country for a duration of one to two years with researchers of any nationality eligible. Global Postdoctoral Fellowships fund mobility outside Europe for two to three years, consisting of an initial period in a non-associated Third Country followed by a mandatory one-year return phase to an organization based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.
Both fellowship types may include short-term secondments anywhere in the world during the fellowship, excluding the return phase of a Global Fellowship. Additionally, researchers can receive support for a placement of up to six months in a non-academic organization based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country at the end of their fellowship.
Funding covers the recruited researcher through a living allowance, mobility allowance, and family, long-term leave, and special needs allowances where applicable. Additional funding is provided for research, training, networking activities, management, and indirect costs.
Applicants must submit an application jointly with a host organization, which can be a university, research institution, business, SME, or other organization based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. All disciplines are eligible for Postdoctoral Fellowships, including research areas covered by the Euratom Research and Training Programme.
