Juilliard School Scholarships for International Students

Financial aid at Juilliard is decided by the Juilliard Scholarship Committee at the point of admission, and it combines both artistic merit and financial need. There is no separate scholarship application form to fill out for most awards - once a student is admitted through Juilliard's rigorous audition process (in music, dance, or drama), the Financial Aid Office reviews the family's submitted financial documents (including the CSS Profile, which international families also complete using estimated foreign income and assets) and the Scholarship Committee assigns an award package.

Award sizes vary enormously depending on need and the strength of the audition, but the average need-based scholarship or grant for an incoming student is in the tens of thousands of dollars annually, and many students on named endowed scholarships receive full or near-full tuition coverage. International students are eligible for the same institutional scholarships as domestic students; Juilliard does not have federal aid to offer non-US citizens, so its own institutional funds are the primary source of support for internationals.

Because scholarship money is limited and demand from international applicants is high, students should apply for admission as early as possible, submit complete and accurate financial documentation, and where possible seek supplementary funding (home-country government scholarships, HEC nomination where applicable, or private conservatory-specific trusts) to cover the gap between the Juilliard award and full cost of attendance, which includes New York City living expenses.
