ICESCO-Uzbekistan Scholarship Programme

In its first phase, the programme channels scholarships into two specific institutions: Tashkent State Medical University, which offers seats in its bachelor's program in General Medicine, and the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies, which offers bachelor's seats across Environmental and Sustainable Management, Environment and Economics, and Environmental Science and Public Administration. The inclusion of a dedicated medical university track is notable, since MBBS-equivalent programs in Central Asia have become an increasingly popular and affordable option for Pakistani pre-medical students who do not secure a local government medical college seat.

Each scholarship awarded under the programme is fully funded, covering tuition fees for the full duration of the bachelor's degree, on-campus student housing, a monthly living stipend, and health coverage through Uzbekistan's public healthcare institutions. This benefits package is comparable to, and in some respects more comprehensive than, several better-known Central Asian government scholarship schemes, since it explicitly bundles housing and medical coverage rather than leaving students to arrange these independently.

Applications are processed centrally through ICESCO's own international scholarships portal rather than through the receiving Uzbek universities directly, which streamlines the process for applicants from member states. Because this is a newly launched initiative with a small first cohort, prospective Pakistani applicants should expect the programme to expand its partner-university list and seat allocation in future cycles, and should check ICESCO's portal directly for the most current call for applications rather than relying on the details of the pilot cohort.
