About the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Scholarship
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) provides scholarships to exceptionally talented and socially engaged young people from Germany and abroad. As one of 13 German organizations for the promotion of young talent, FES receives funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Foreign Office.
The foundation welcomes applications from individuals who are the first in their family to attend university or who possess a migration background. FES also participates in opening talent promotion programs for vocational training alongside traditional academic tracks.
Scholarship recipients receive both material financial support and access to a diverse political education program. This ideological support connects students with foundational values of social democracy, including freedom, justice, and solidarity.
FES maintains support structures such as the Solidarity Fund, established in the 1970s to assist international students and doctoral candidates facing persecution who advocate for democratic values. Former scholarship holders also remain connected through an active alumni network.
