The EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme supports excellent postdoctoral researchers to carry out research for a period of up to two years. International mobility is a core requirement for all applicants seeking to join the program.
The fellowship provides comprehensive financial support including a salary or stipend, a relocation allowance, and targeted support for fellows with children. Awardees also gain access to an EMBO Laboratory Leadership course and join the global network of EMBO Fellows.
Applications are accepted throughout the year with a hard deadline cutoff date of Friday, January 22, 2027, at 14:00 CET. Effective from the autumn 2027 selection round, re-applications are no longer permitted, and researchers may submit only one EMBO Fellowship Proposal.
Additionally, host laboratories are restricted to supporting a maximum of one candidate per selection round. EMBO also considers a first-author refereed preprint as equivalent to a first-author publication for eligibility and assessment purposes.
