AAUW International Fellowships

The fellowship funds three categories of study: Master's/first professional degree fellowships, Doctoral fellowships, and Postdoctoral fellowships, all to be completed at a U.S.-accredited college or university. Applicants must already be admitted to, or enrolled in, their program at the time of application - AAUW does not fund the general search for admission, only the study itself once a placement is secured.

Financially, the fellowship provides a fixed stipend rather than covering the full cost of attendance: $20,000 for master's/professional degree fellows and $25,000 for doctoral fellows, disbursed across two installments during the fellowship year. While this typically does not cover the entire cost of a U.S. graduate program, it is intended to be combined with university funding, assistantships, or other scholarships, and AAUW's selection committees give some preference to women whose research addresses issues affecting women and girls.

AAUW places a strong emphasis on the applicant's intent to use her education to benefit her home country or community, which makes this fellowship particularly attractive to Pakistani women pursuing graduate study in fields like public health, education, engineering, social sciences, or STEM research with a clear plan to apply that training back home or in a global context.
