Important Admission Requirements
MOE Listed vs Non-MOE: What it Means for You
Wannan Medical College is a Non-MOE listed university for the international MBBS programme. The course is English medium (with Year 1 dedicated to Chinese language foundation), with HSK-4 required by the end of Year 1. WHO/WDOMS recognition and PMC/PMDC approval mean Pakistani and globally licensed pathways remain open, but applicants who want a fully English-medium MOE-listed programme should compare against MOE-listed universities in this guide. Confirm current PMDC/PMC NOC status with Titans Abroad before applying.
Language Requirement: HSK
WNMC requires international MBBS students to pass HSK Level 4 by the end of Year 1 to progress into the Clinical Medicine curriculum from Year 2. Year 1 is fully dedicated to intensive Mandarin Chinese study. Students who do not pass may repeat the Chinese language year or withdraw from the program. Begin HSK preparation 3-6 months before arrival.
Pakistan, India and Bangladesh Recognition
WNMC is PMC/PMDC approved (secondary sources; verify directly on the latest official PMDC list before applying). Pakistani graduates are eligible to sit the NLE/NRE licensing examination after MBBS completion. Indian applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese medical universities generally do not meet current NMC (India) criteria for FMGE/NExT eligibility under the 2021 NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate regulations; verify the latest NMC requirements directly with the National Medical Commission before applying. NEET remains mandatory for any Indian student studying MBBS abroad. Bangladeshi applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese programmes are not commonly included on BMDC's recognised foreign institutions list; verify the current BMDC list directly before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wannan Medical College (WNMC) recognised in Pakistan?
Secondary sources confirm PMC/PMDC recognition for WNMC. However, the current recognition status must be verified directly on the latest official PMDC recognised foreign institutions list before applying. Always confirm current status with PMDC/PMC before paying any fees or committing to enrolment. Titans Abroad can confirm this for you.
Is WNMC on the MOE list for international MBBS?
No. WNMC is not on China's MOE list of English-taught MBBS universities. The international MBBS is English-medium (Year 1 is a Chinese language foundation year) with HSK-4 required after Year 1. This does not affect WHO/WDOMS recognition or PMC/PMDC eligibility.
What is the HSK requirement at WNMC?
HSK Level 4 is required after Year 1 to progress to Year 2 Clinical Medicine. Year 1 is dedicated to intensive Chinese language study. If a student does not pass HSK-4 after Year 1, they may repeat the Chinese language year or withdraw from the program. Begin Chinese language preparation 3-6 months before arrival.
What is the total cost of MBBS at WNMC for 6 years?
Approximately 1,45,900 RMB. Year 1 is approximately 35,900 RMB (all-in package including management and liaison fee of 13,900 RMB). Years 2-6 are approximately 22,000 RMB each. The 1,500 RMB application fee is additional. Food, electricity, internet, books and personal expenses are not included. Verify all figures directly with WNMC before payment.
How strong is the clinical training at WNMC?
WNMC has 8 directly affiliated hospitals and 58 teaching hospitals, making its clinical network one of the more extensive among non-MOE universities in this guide. The primary affiliated hospital, Yijishan Hospital, is a Grade 3A comprehensive hospital and the largest medical, teaching, research and emergency centre in south Anhui Province.
What happens if I do not pass HSK-4 after Year 1?
If you do not pass HSK-4 after completing the Year 1 Chinese language program, you may repeat the Chinese language year or withdraw from the program. Begin Chinese language preparation before arriving in China to minimise this risk. Titans Abroad can connect you with pre-departure language preparation resources.
Is halal food available at WNMC?
Halal food is available in Wuhu city. Students should verify the current availability of halal canteens or restaurants near the WNMC campus before arriving. Connecting with current WNMC students through Titans Abroad before departure is a practical way to confirm the current food situation on and around campus.
What is Wuhu like for students?
Wuhu is one of the four major cities of Anhui Province, on the south bank of the Yangtze River. It is affordable and well-connected: high-speed rail to Nanjing in ~40 minutes and Shanghai in ~2 hours. Wuhu Wanli Airport provides domestic flights. Monthly food costs around 800-1,200 RMB. The city has a population of ~3.6 million with riverside scenery and historic Mirror Lake (Jinghu).
Can Indian students study MBBS at WNMC? Is NEET required?
Indian students are welcome to apply, but Indian applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese medical universities generally do not meet current NMC (India) criteria for FMGE/NExT eligibility under the 2021 NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate regulations. Most Indian students seeking guaranteed NMC compliance choose MOE-listed Chinese universities instead. Verify the latest NMC requirements directly with the National Medical Commission before applying. NEET (50th percentile General / 40th percentile reserved) remains mandatory for any Indian student studying MBBS abroad.
Can Bangladeshi students study MBBS at WNMC? Is the degree BMDC recognised?
Bangladeshi students may apply, but applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese programmes are not commonly included on BMDC's recognised foreign institutions list, which predominantly covers MOE-listed Chinese medical universities. Verify the current BMDC list directly before applying. Most Bangladeshi students seeking guaranteed BMDC recognition choose MOE-listed Chinese universities instead. SSC and HSC certificates with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are the core academic requirements.
Does WNMC offer scholarships for international students?
Yes. WNMC operates a University Scholarship (annual merit-based; amounts vary) and Anhui Provincial Government Scholarships are available for outstanding international students at Anhui universities. Scholarships are awarded after arrival based on academic performance and conduct - do not plan your budget assuming you will receive one.
What entry marks are required at WNMC?
Minimum 70% marks in all subjects in senior high school (HSSC / A-Levels / O-Levels equivalent) - higher than some other non-MOE universities. Applicants must also be Non-Chinese citizens with valid passport, minimum age 18, medically fit and with a clean criminal record.
