Clinical Training

3 Hospitals

CFU's 6-year MBBS programme is English-medium (Year 1 is a Chinese language foundation year): Year 1 focuses on Chinese language fundamentals (no HSK required initially, then HSK-3 by year-end), with HSK-4 required before the Year 6 internship. The curriculum covers Human Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Diagnostics, Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medical Psychology and Medical Ethics.

Clinical training is delivered at the First Affiliated Hospital (Grade III-B, 1,000+ beds, leading in Inner Mongolia for complex cardiac, brain and orthopaedic procedures), the Second Affiliated Hospital (400 beds), and 6-8 additional teaching hospitals across the Chifeng region. The Year 6 internship offers a unique option: students may complete it outside China at half the standard Year 6 tuition (13,700 RMB instead of 22,700 RMB), giving flexibility to Pakistani, Indian and other international students who want to begin licensing exam preparation at home.

Faculty strength: Faculty include 226 doctorate holders and 504 master's holders across 25 colleges and 60 undergraduate programs.

Important Admission Requirements

๐Ÿ“Step 1

MOE Listed vs Non-MOE: What it Means for You

Chifeng University is not on China's MOE list for English-medium MBBS. The international MBBS programme is English-medium (Year 1 is a Chinese language foundation year) with HSK-3 by end of Year 1 and HSK-4 before internship. PMC/PMDC, WHO, ECFMG and FAIMER recognition remain in place, so Pakistani graduates can sit the PMDC/PMC licensing examination after MBBS completion. Verify the latest PMDC/PMC policy on non-MOE universities before applying.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธStep 2

Language Requirement: HSK-Free Year 1, HSK-3 then HSK-4

CFU has one of the most gradual HSK progressions among non-MOE universities. No HSK is required in Year 1. By the end of Year 1 students must achieve HSK Level 3. Before starting the Year 6 clinical internship, students must achieve HSK Level 4. This step-wise progression makes CFU accessible to students new to Chinese, though pre-departure Mandarin preparation is still recommended.

๐Ÿ’ณStep 3

Pakistan, India and Bangladesh Recognition

CFU is PMC/PMDC approved - Pakistani graduates are eligible to sit the NRE/NLE licensing examination. Indian applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese medical universities generally do not meet current NMC (India) criteria for FMGE/NExT eligibility under the 2021 NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate regulations; verify the latest NMC requirements directly with the National Medical Commission before applying. Bangladeshi applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese programmes are not commonly included on BMDC's recognised foreign institutions list; verify the current BMDC list directly before applying. Always verify current council policy before applying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chifeng University (CFU) PMDC approved?

Is CFU MOE listed?

No. CFU is not on the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) English-medium MBBS list. The international MBBS is English-medium (Year 1 is a Chinese language foundation year) with HSK-3 by end of Year 1 and HSK-4 before internship. Pakistani graduates remain eligible for the PMDC/PMC licensing examination via PMDC recognition.

What is the HSK requirement at CFU?

CFU has one of the most gradual HSK progressions in this guide. No HSK is required in Year 1. HSK Level 3 must be achieved by the end of Year 1. HSK Level 4 must be achieved before starting the Year 6 clinical internship.

What is the total cost of MBBS at CFU for 6 years?

The total 6-year MBBS cost is approximately RMB 1,43,500 with the internship completed in China (Year 1: 30,000 + Years 2-6: 22,700 x 5). This is among the lowest 6-year totals in this guide. If the Year 6 internship is completed outside China, the Year 6 cost drops to 13,700 RMB. The 2,000 RMB application fee is separate.

Can the Year 6 internship be completed outside China?

Yes. CFU allows Year 6 internship to be completed outside China at half the standard tuition (9,000 RMB instead of 18,000 RMB), reducing Year 6 total to 13,700 RMB. This is unusual flexibility among non-MOE Chinese universities and helps students who want to begin licensing exam preparation in their home country.

Monthly living costs are approximately 700-1,000 RMB.

Can Indian students study MBBS at CFU? Is NEET required?

Indian students are welcome to apply, but Indian applicants should note that non-MOE Chinese medical universities generally do not meet current NMC (India) criteria for FMGE/NExT eligibility under the 2021 NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate regulations. Most Indian students seeking guaranteed NMC compliance choose MOE-listed Chinese universities instead. Anyone considering this university must independently verify the latest NMC requirements directly with the National Medical Commission before applying. NEET (50th percentile General / 40th percentile reserved) remains mandatory for Indian students studying MBBS abroad in any case.

Can Bangladeshi students study MBBS at CFU? Is the degree BMDC recognised?
